Insisting on keeping a habit, w.oman must have dialysis for life
In the program Healthy and Beautiful Life, Dr. Lam Vi Van (China) shared that many people ask about how to protect cardiovascular health. The simplest method that most people know is to reduce salt and sugar in their daily diet, but not everyone can do it.
Nowadays, people eat more and more sweets. According to China Times, a survey shows that the rate of people consuming sugary drinks has doubled compared to 10 years ago. A study confirms that metabolic syndrome is related to sugary drinks, which will lead to 3 highs (high blood pressure, high blood fat, high blood sugar).
Dr. Lam clearly remembers a case of a patient who suffered the consequences of eating habits. The female office worker came to the clinic when she was over 40 years old, about 1.5m tall but weighed up to 130kg. She said that she was under a lot of pressure at work and had to rely on eating sweets to relieve stress.
She went to the doctor because she felt stiff neck, dizzy, and had severe high blood pressure (up to 200 mmHg). To control her blood pressure, the patient used 5 different types of medication.
After examination, the doctor noted that many other indicators were also abnormally high. Dr. Lam advised the patient to give up the habit of eating sweets and assessed that she had taken too many medications arbitrarily.
However, the patient did not return for a health check. Recently, Dr. Lam accidentally discovered his old patient in the hospital room when she turned 50.
Previously, the woman was taken to the emergency room because of wheezing, chest tightness, and discomfort. She was found to have diabetes, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and high blood sugar. The patient started dialysis due to acute kidney failure. "The patient is only 50 years old but has a heart like an 80-year-old," said Dr. Lam.
Dr. Lam said that the above case is a typical example of someone who cannot control blood pressure, blood sugar and weight, and constantly eats sweets, causing harm to the body.
To protect the cardiovascular system, you should eat less sweets, and you can use the natural sweetness of foods to reduce the amount of sugar in cooking. Fruits such as onions, carrots, pumpkins, sweet potatoes, corn, taro, apples, mangoes, passion fruit, strawberries, kiwis and citrus fruits all have natural sweetness that can replace sugar.
