Creamy Beef & Mushroom Skillet
(Tender Beef Cubes in a Rich Cream Sauce)
This dish features pan-seared beef cubes with a deep brown crust, simmered in a luxurious creamy mushroom sauce. It is rich, comforting, and perfect served with mashed potatoes, rice, or crusty bread.
🥩 Ingredients (Serves 3–4)
For the beef

700 g beef sirloin, chuck, or ribeye, cut into large cubes

1 tbsp flour (optional, for light coating)

2 tbsp olive oil or butter
For the mushrooms & aromatics

250 g mushrooms (button or cremini), sliced

1 small onion or shallot, finely diced

3 cloves garlic, minced
For the creamy sauce

200 ml heavy cream
-
120 ml beef stock
-
1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)

½ tsp paprika
-
½ tsp dried thyme
-
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Garnish

Fresh parsley or chives, chopped

1. Prepare the beef

Pat the beef cubes completely dry.

Season generously with salt and black pepper.

Lightly dust with flour if using (shake off excess).
2. Sear the beef
-
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Add beef cubes in batches (do not overcrowd).
-
Sear 2–3 minutes per side until deeply browned.

Remove beef from the pan and set aside.
3. Cook the mushrooms

In the same pan, lower heat to medium.

Add mushrooms and cook until browned and their moisture evaporates.

Add onion and cook 2–3 minutes until soft.

Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
4. Build the sauce

Pour in beef stock and scrape up browned bits from the pan.

Add cream, Dijon mustard, paprika, and thyme.

Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer.
5. Finish the dish

Return beef (and any juices) to the pan.

Simmer gently 5–7 minutes until the sauce thickens and beef is tender.

Remove from heat and rest 2 minutes before serving.
