These meatballs are tender and juicy, coated in a thick, sticky, sweet-spicy glaze. Perfect as an appetizer, party dish, or served with rice or noodles.


🥩 Ingredients (Serves 3–4)

For the meatballs

  • 500 g ground meat (beef, pork, or a mix)

  • 1 egg

  • ½ cup breadcrumbs

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 small onion, finely grated

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp paprika or chili powder

  • 1 tbsp cooking oil (for frying)

For the sticky glaze

  • 4 tbsp ketchup

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 2 tbsp honey or brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar

  • 1 tbsp chili sauce or sriracha (adjust to taste)

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • 2 tbsp water

Garnish

  • Fresh cilantro or parsley, chopped

  • Chili flakes (optional)


🔥 Instructions

1. Make the meatballs

  • In a large bowl, combine ground meat, egg, breadcrumbs, garlic, onion, soy sauce, salt, pepper, and spices.

  • Mix gently until just combined (do not overmix).

  • Roll into small balls, about 3–4 cm in diameter.

2. Cook the meatballs

  • Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat.

  • Add meatballs and cook, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides and cooked through.

  • Remove excess fat if necessary.

3. Prepare the glaze

  • The glaze ingredients can be mixed in a bowl or added directly to the pan.

  • Lower heat to medium-low.

  • Pour the sauce over the meatballs.

4. Glaze the meatballs

  • Toss meatballs gently in the sauce.

  • Simmer 3–5 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the meatballs evenly.

  • The glaze should be sticky and glossy, not watery.

  • Transfer meatballs to a serving dish.

  • Spoon extra sauce over the top.
