Steak & Shrimp Garlic Bread Boat (Surf and Turf Style)

This dish combines juicy seared steak, garlic butter shrimp, and crispy toasted bread, finished with herbs and rich pan juices. It’s bold, indulgent, and perfect for sharing or a hearty meal.


🥖 Ingredients (Serves 2–3)

For the bread

  • 1 large baguette or French loaf

  • 60 g unsalted butter, softened

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley

  • Pinch of salt

For the steak

  • 300 g beef steak (sirloin, ribeye, or strip), cut into bite-size cubes

  • Salt, to taste

  • Freshly ground black pepper

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tbsp butter

For the shrimp

  • 200 g large shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • ½ tsp paprika or chili flakes (optional)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 clove garlic, minced

Optional finishing

  • Extra chopped parsley

  • Grated cheese (Parmesan or mozzarella, optional)

1. Prepare the garlic bread

  1. Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F).

  2. Slice the baguette lengthwise and gently hollow out some of the soft interior to form a “boat.”

  3. Mix butter, garlic, parsley, and salt.

  4. Spread the garlic butter generously inside the bread.

  5. Bake for 8–10 minutes until lightly golden and crisp. Set aside.


2. Cook the steak

  1. Pat steak cubes dry and season with salt and pepper.

  2. Heat olive oil in a hot skillet over medium-high heat.

  3. Sear steak cubes 2–3 minutes per side until browned but still juicy.

  4. Add butter, toss briefly, then remove steak and set aside.


3. Cook the shrimp

  1. In the same pan, add olive oil if needed.

  2. Add shrimp, season with salt, pepper, and paprika.

  3. Cook 1–2 minutes per side until pink and just cooked.

  4. Add minced garlic and cook 30 seconds until fragrant.


4. Assemble

  1. Fill the toasted garlic bread with steak cubes.

  2. Arrange shrimp evenly on top.

  3. Spoon pan juices over everything.

  4. Optional: sprinkle with cheese and bake 5 minutes until melted.
