Puff Pastry Christmas Wreath with Brie and Pomegranate

Puff Pastry Christmas Wreath with Brie and Pomegranate
Ingredients:
For the Wreath:
-
1 sheet of puff pastry (about 10x10 inches)
-
200g Brie cheese (cut into cubes or slices)
-
1/2 cup pomegranate seeds
-
Fresh holly leaves or fresh herbs (for decoration)
-
1 egg (for egg wash)
-
1 tbsp honey (optional, for drizzling)
Instructions:

1. Preheat the Oven:
-
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Prepare the Puff Pastry:
-
Unroll the puff pastry sheet onto a piece of parchment paper or a baking tray.
-
Cut the puff pastry into a large circle. You can use a round cake pan or a bowl to guide you in cutting a perfect circle. If you want the wreath shape, you can cut a smaller circle in the center to create a ring.
3. Add the Brie:
-
Place cubes or slices of Brie cheese evenly along the inside of the puff pastry circle, leaving some space between them.
-
If you'd like, you can drizzle a little bit of honey over the cheese for added sweetness.
4. Fold and Shape the Wreath:
-
Fold the edges of the puff pastry slightly over the cheese to partially cover it. Make sure the pastry forms a wreath shape, sealing the ends of the dough by pressing them together gently.
-
Optionally, you can score the edges of the pastry with a sharp knife to give it a decorative look.
-
Brush the outer edges of the pastry with an egg wash (whisk one egg with a tablespoon of water and brush it over the dough).
5. Bake the Wreath:
-
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the puff pastry is golden brown and puffed up.
6. Garnish and Serve:
-
Once the wreath is baked, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
-
Once cooled slightly, top the wreath with pomegranate seeds, and decorate with fresh holly leaves or herbs for a festive touch.
-
Serve warm, with extra honey drizzled on top if desired.
Notes:
-
This festive wreath is perfect for Christmas parties or as an appetizer for holiday meals.
-
You can also swap out the Brie cheese for other soft cheeses like Camembert or goat cheese for a different flavor.
-
For an added crunch, sprinkle some chopped nuts like walnuts or pecans over the wreath before baking.
Enjoy this deliciously cheesy and beautiful puff pastry wreath!
