Natalie Bonett was driving through Wallan, north of Melbourne on Saturday when she approached a police checkpoint.

The 29-year-old said one officer told her that her window mount for her phone was a hazard and could be obstructing her vision. The driver accused him of reaching into her car to remove it and that’s when she started filming her interaction with police.

In a Facebook post, Natalie said: “They called for backup and had four police officers grab me by the legs and pull me out of my car and arrest me.

“While trying to cuff me they had their knees in my back and I couldn’t breathe. My blood is boiling.”

Despite saying she drove this route ‘every single day’ and that she had her driver’s license and permit for being on the road ready, police say Ms Bonett refused to give over details of her identity.

A spokesperson for Victorian Police say the woman was in breach of the Road Safety Act for not supply her details and driver’s licence.

“The woman was warned that if she did not provide her details, she would be arrested,” the spokesperson said.

“She still refused and was asked by police to get out of her car. When she refused this request, she was taken from the car by officers and taken into custody.

“The Wallan woman was later released and is expected to be charged on summons with driving with obscured vision, fail to produce licence, fail to state her name and address, resist arrest, assault police and offensive language.”

A few seconds later she can be seen yelling ‘what the f*** are you doing’ as the police officer tried to remove her from the car.

But Natalie claims she didn’t realise she had done anything wrong and suffers from an auto-immune disorder and mental health issues.

“I was basically put on my stomach by four officers,” she said. “They cuffed me, they were being so rough… my airways were constricted by how they were kneeing me on my back.”

Since the video went viral, there has been a fierce reaction from people online, with some claiming it to be a just arrest and others believing it’s a stretch or even an abuse of police powers.
