Ingredients (Makes 6–8 Trees)

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

  • 3–4 tbsp basil pesto

Instructions

1. Prepare the Puff Pastry

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).

  2. Unroll the puff pastry sheet onto a lightly floured surface.

  3. Cut the pastry into long strips about 1.5–2 cm wide.

  4. Brush each strip lightly with pesto.

  5. Sprinkle mozzarella or Parmesan cheese over the pesto.


2. Shape the Christmas Trees

  1. Starting at the bottom, fold the pastry strip back and forth to create a tree shape, making each layer slightly narrower as it goes up.

  2. Press lightly so the folds stick together.

  3. Transfer each shaped pastry tree onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  4. Brush the tops with egg wash for a golden finish.


3. Bake

  1. Place the tray in the preheated oven.

  2. Bake for 12–15 minutes until the pastries are golden, puffed, and slightly crispy.

  3. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes.


4. Add Final Touches

  1. Sprinkle extra Parmesan or add fresh basil leaves.

  2. Place small edible stars on top if desired for decoration.
