How to Keep Ginger Fresh for Months: Experts Share Simple Storage Tips
Simple storage tips can keep ginger fresh for up to six months.
There are many dishes that require a lot of oil, deep frying for the best taste. During the frying process, food crumbs fall into the oil, making it cloudy and leaving residue. If you continue to reuse this oil, it will cause burning and ruin the flavor of the dish. Throwing the oil away is a waste. Therefore, the most effective solution is to filter out the residue in the oil.
To remove all food particles and make the oil clear again so that it can be safely reused, you can apply one of the methods below.
Method 1: Use paper towels or coffee filters
After frying, let the oil cool completely.
Place a paper towel or coffee filter in a funnel/strainer, with a clean bowl underneath to catch the oil.
Slowly pour the oil through the filter to remove the residue. After filtering, store the oil in a sealed container and keep it in a cool, dark place.
Method 2: Use cornstarch and water
Take a tablespoon of cornstarch and mix it with about 100ml of water. Stir well to dissolve the cornstarch in the water.
Turn on the stove and heat the oil. Once the oil is hot, pour the cornstarch mixture into the pan.
Fry the mixture until the cornstarch rises completely, then use chopsticks to remove the cornstarch. At this point, the food particles will stick to the mixture, making the oil clear again. To ensure all food residue is removed from the oil, you can filter the oil through paper filter once more.
