Ingredients
For the Crab Cakes

450 g (1 lb) lump crab meat (picked clean of shells)

1 large egg

½ cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crispiness)

1 tsp Dijon mustard

1 tsp lemon juice (freshly squeezed)

1 clove garlic, finely minced

1 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped

½ tsp paprika

½ tsp salt (adjust to taste)

2 tbsp olive oil or butter (for frying)
For the Creamy Dipping Sauce

½ cup mayonnaise
-
1 tsp Dijon mustard

1 tbsp lemon juice
-
1 tbsp chopped parsley or chives

Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions

1. Prepare the Crab Mixture
In a large bowl, gently combine the crab meat, egg, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, garlic, parsley, paprika, salt, and pepper.
Mix carefully to keep the crab chunks intact.
2. Add Breadcrumbs
Gradually fold in the breadcrumbs until the mixture holds together but is still moist.
Do not overmix — this keeps the crab cakes tender inside.
3. Shape the Crab Cakes
Using your hands, form the mixture into round patties about 2.5 cm (1 inch) thick.
Place them on a plate and refrigerate for 15–20 minutes to help them firm up.
4. Cook the Crab Cakes
Heat olive oil or butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
Cook the crab cakes for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy on the outside.
5. Make the Sauce
In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, herbs, salt, and pepper until smooth and creamy.
6. Serve
Serve the crab cakes hot with the creamy dipping sauce on the side.
Garnish with extra parsley and a lemon wedge if desired.
