Remove rust from knives and scissors with extremely simple ingredients

1. Why do knives rust?
Knives in your family's kitchen are usually made of steel, so whenever you leave them in water for longer than necessary, they will corrode.
Not only that, after washing with dishwashing liquid or soap without drying the knife, your knife will also have rust stains over time.
Many people even use a towel to wipe the knife without washing it, and the food stains left on the knife will also cause rust.
When using a rusty knife, the rust stains will stick to the food, which will be harmful to your health over time.
2. Remove rust from knives with lemon
Usually, when knives rust, you will throw them away and buy new knives, because detergents do not clean the rust stains, and they also harm your hands.
However, lemon juice is a great way to safely remove rust from kitchen knives.
You just need to cut a lemon and rub it along the blade, then carefully rub the blade with a soft cloth or sponge until the stains disappear.
If necessary, you can dip the sponge in lemon juice, dip it in a little salt and rub it again. When the rust stains disappear, wash the knife with diluted dishwashing liquid, don't forget to dry it with a towel.
3. White vinegar
Vinegar is an acid that reacts with rust stains to make them disappear and is an ingredient that is easy to find or available in your family.
You just need to soak the rusted knife in vinegar and leave it for 24 hours, then use a damp cloth to wipe away the rust stains and rinse with water.
If you don't have time, you just need to soak it in vinegar for a few hours, then use a brush or rough surface to rub on the rust stains to easily remove them.
4. Coca cola
It sounds unbelievable, right? But in fact, this popular drink is one of the products that helps remove rust stains on metal because Coca Cola contains a certain amount of phosphoric acid, which is often used to remove rust stains on iron, steel, etc.
The implementation is also extremely easy, you just need to open the Coca Cola bottle cap and pour it directly onto the rust stain, use sandpaper to rub the rust stain repeatedly until the rust stain is gone.
Note that you must do it immediately after opening the Coca Cola can cap so that the amount of gas is still high, the cleaning effect will be more optimal.
5. Baking soda
Baking soda is a very versatile baking soda in cleaning household items, especially removing rust stains on metal.
You just need to mix baking soda with water to get a thick mixture, then apply the mixture to the rust stains of knives, scissors and leave it for a few minutes.
Use a brush to scrub the mixture until the rust stains peel off, then rinse with clean water and you're done. Depending on the severity and thickness of the rust, you can increase or decrease the amount of water and baking soda appropriately!
Some notes to keep knives from rusting
Do not soak knives or scissors in water after use, especially do not soak overnight, but wash them and let them dry to avoid dampness - the leading cause of rust in knives and scissors.
Before using a new knife, apply a layer of cooking oil to the knife for a few minutes, then wipe it clean with a damp cloth. This will minimize the appearance of rust stains.
Use separate knives for raw or cooked foods to help keep the knives clean.
After using knives or scissors, wash the knives with rice water to help keep the knives shiny and limit rust.
