This 10-Year-Old Student Wrote A Poem About Dyslexia That Can Be Read Forwards And Backwards And ‘Stunned’ Her Teacher

Jane Broadis, a year 6 teacher at Christ Church Chorleywood C of E School in Watford, United Kingdom, has recently surprised internet users everywhere by sharing a unique poem written by one of her pupils. The poem is titled “Dyslexia” and the unique part of it is that it can be read both forwards and backwards.

Dyslexia is a disorder that affects the ability to read despite normal intelligence. In another tweet, Broadis expressed concern that school children affected by this disorder never hear that they are often able to think in ways others cannot.

There’s a common misconception that only people with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) can be dyslectic. The truth is that it can be caused by both environmental factors and passed on genetically.

Some people were quick to call this poem a palindrome but that is not entirely correct – a palindrome is something that can be read from both ends and still spell the same word, like ‘racecar’ or ‘madam’, or even whole phrases like “A man, a plan, a canal, Panama!”. And let’s not forget ‘taco cat’.
