Beef, Broccoli & Mushroom Rice Bowl

This comforting rice bowl features tender marinated beef, crisp broccoli, and juicy mushrooms stir-fried in a light savory sauce, then mixed with fluffy rice. Balanced, nutritious, and perfect for an everyday meal.


Ingredients (2 servings)

Main

  • 200 g beef (sirloin or flank), thinly sliced

  • 2 cups cooked rice (short-grain or jasmine)

  • 1½ cups broccoli florets

  • 1 cup mushrooms (button or shiitake), sliced

  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil


Beef Marinade

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 1 teaspoon oyster sauce

  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

  • ½ teaspoon sugar

  • ½ teaspoon sesame oil

  • Pinch of black pepper


Stir-Fry Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce

  • 2 tablespoons water or stock

  • ½ teaspoon sugar

Step 1: Marinate the Beef

  1. Place sliced beef in a bowl.

  2. Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, sugar, sesame oil, and black pepper.

  3. Mix well and let marinate for 10–15 minutes.


Step 2: Prepare the Vegetables

  1. Blanch broccoli in boiling water for 1–2 minutes until bright green.

  2. Drain and set aside.

  3. Slice mushrooms evenly.


Step 3: Cook the Beef

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a pan or wok over medium-high heat.

  2. Add marinated beef in a single layer.

  3. Stir-fry quickly for 1–2 minutes until just cooked.

  4. Remove beef from the pan and set aside.


Step 4: Stir-Fry Vegetables

  1. Add remaining oil to the pan.

  2. Add mushrooms and stir-fry until lightly browned.

  3. Add broccoli and toss well.


Step 5: Combine

  1. Return beef to the pan.

  2. Add stir-fry sauce.

  3. Toss everything together for 1–2 minutes until coated and glossy.


Step 6: Serve

  • Serve hot over rice or gently mix rice into the pan like in the image.

  • Optional garnish: sesame seeds or sliced green onions.


Tips

  • Slice beef against the grain for tenderness.

  • Keep cooking time short to avoid tough beef.

  • For extra flavor, add minced garlic at the mushroom stage.
