Ingredients
-
4 cube steaks
-
Salt and black pepper, to taste
-
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
-
2 tablespoons vegetable oil or butter
-
1 large onion, thinly sliced
-
2 cups beef broth
-
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
-
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
-
1/2 teaspoon onion powder (optional)

Instructions
1. Season and Dredge the Steak
Season both sides of the cube steaks with salt and black pepper.
Dredge each steak lightly in flour, shaking off excess. Reserve remaining flour for the gravy.
2. Pan-Fry the Cube Steaks
Heat oil or butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add cube steaks and cook for 3–4 minutes per side, until golden brown.
Remove steaks from the skillet and set aside.
3. Cook the Onions
In the same skillet, add sliced onions.
Cook over medium heat for 5–7 minutes, stirring often, until soft and lightly caramelized.
4. Make the Gravy
Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of the reserved flour over the onions. Stir well and cook for 1 minute.
Gradually pour in the beef broth while stirring to prevent lumps.
Add Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder.
Simmer until the gravy thickens, about 3–5 minutes.
5. Simmer the Steaks
Return the cube steaks to the skillet, nestling them into the gravy.
Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15–20 minutes until the meat is tender.
6. Serve
Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or buttered noodles.
